Plastic bags*

Plastic bags are NEVER recyclable in the curbside bin. This includes even the clear or blue bags sold as recycling bags. Recyclables should never be bagged and no plastic bags should go in your recycling bin. Place plastic bags in your trash bin or recycle them at grocery stores and other retailers.

Styrofoam*

Styrofoam (TM) containers including takeout containers and cups are NOT recyclable curbside! Please throw them in your trash bin or take them to our Sanitation Convenience Center at State Road & Ashburner Streets for Recycling.

Plastic bottles*

Plastic bottles, such as single use water bottles and gallon milk jugs, ARE recyclable! Make sure they are shaken empty or as dry as possible when placing in your recycling bin, so they don’t wet any paper/cardboard for recycling. Remember that plastics with the #'s 1, 2 and 5 are recyclable in your curbside bin. We want 1, 2, and 5 in the 215!

Hangers*

No matter what a hanger is made of (wood, plastic or wire), it is NOT recyclable. Please place this item in your trash bin.

Glass*

All glass bottles regardless of color ARE recyclable. Glass can be recycled over and over without any loss of purity, so keep recycling that glass! Please make sure it is empty and as dry as possible before placing in your recycling bin.

Household items such as pots, pans, extension cords, and batteries*

None of these items are recyclable. NO batteries, pots and pans of any kind, or electrical cords can go in your recycling bin. Building materials including wood, furniture and carpeting are also NOT recyclable.

Cardboard*

Cardboard boxes ARE recyclable in your curbside bin. Please break down and flatten your boxes before placing in your recycling bin at the curb. Remember to remove any packing plastic or foam.

Soft paper, like tissues and paper towels*

Soft papers, like tissues and papers towels, CAN'T be recycled in the curbside bin. Please place them in your trash bin. However, the cardboard rolls that these papers are wrapped around ... those CAN be recycled!
